Welcome to my website, musical friends!Hi, I'm Ava Lemert and I love soul music. That's a broad term, I know, but it's that simple for me. Soul music: you know it when you hear it, am I right? It's the feeling, it can be a blues song (that's easy) or it can be a vocal delivery in a Country song (think of Ray Charles, or Barry Gibb, they were both cross over in R&B and Country). Isn't that fun? My favorite parallel today is Adele, she could sing any style but always with soul. Two of my big vocal influences follow the same rule of soul without boundaries or sex, race or creed: Lisa Stansfield and the late Teena Marie.I have had the incredible honor of audience members coming up to me after a set where I've played my saxophone and sang my own music and tell me "Wow, you're like a sax-playing Teena Marie!" That's an esteemed honor. I am busy sharing and making my own brand of soul music. It's not easy to categorize because I am a full-on vocalist -and- an instrumentalist at times, plus I love to create new music in many styles.
